What would we do without our morning burst of caffeine?
I honestly have no idea! I guess I would just have to eat sugar in the mornings? Or perhaps a protein bar? All i have to say is, coffee is a much less caloric, higher energy start to my day (or afternoon pick up too!)
Whether you drink it black or a frappacino, you know we all need that little boost to make it somedays. I personally love a good cappuccino, however on a daily basis its just strait up coffee, four splenda, and a little skim milk. While i was in Italy, I was introduced to the wonders of esppresso shots. OH. MY. GOSH. I may have to start doing that back here in the states. Ive gotten to the point where coffee doesnt really do all that much for me without VAST amounts of the substance, but man alive--espresso does the trick. Def one of the best fun facts I picked up while abroad.
Its interesting the different cultural coffee differences. For example when i was in Tokyo, barely surviving, all i could find was tea. Now, while a lovely cup of tea on a rainy day while watching a lifetime movie is great, im gonna need a little more than that if im gonna go to class and tour around a country where I cannot read any signs of communicate sufficiently with anyone around me. In Italy, as mentioned, its tiny cups of coffee thats just mainly espresso! its like in and out in 20 seconds take the shot and go! Whew. Sorry, but ill take my Venti regular coffee from Starbucks thank you very much (not to say i wont add an espresso shot here and there!).
I NEED coffee. Heres a fun little image for you- Thanksgiving day 2009, who would have thought that starbucks was closed on thanksgiving and my grandparents wouldnt own a coffee maker!!!??? I had litterally the headache to end all headaches. Like had to lay on the couch perfectly still with my eyes closed so excruiciating pain would not ensue. Thankfully, my equally as addicted father found a gas station with some type of barely mediocre coffee...however, i was SO THANKFUL to see it (yes, pun intended).
To sum it all up, Oh coffee, how I adore our love/hate relationship of caffeine headaches and delicious hot cups of joe. And I do love nothing more than studying at a quaint little coffee shop (yes, starbucks does count) with the hipsters.
Coffee....a necessary part of every single day.
